Why We Must Teach Children Bodily Autonomy Early

In India, childhood sexual abuse is rampant. Every child has a story. Some uncle or aunt used to come and touch them inappropriately. Every kid, every adult I have spoken to has one person that they know of. In India, there is a big culture that uncle, kiss someone, hug aunt, shake hands. We don't teach autonomy to children. So this is what we can start with. Touching someone's genitals is not bad touch. There are other ways of bad touch. You can touch someone's back and do bad touch. How is that making you feel? And if we can start there, that's a great starting off point for very young children. When the child is 4-5 years old, the children know all this.
